This course introduces you to the world of computers. It is a ‘Fun’ course which prepares you for all the other SeniorNet courses and helps you decide which of them you want to do next.
All our tutors are volunteers who probably started the same way that you did! It is essential for beginners but still useful for those who have used older or different computers
In this course we help you understand the basic workings of a computer, using the latest Microsoft operating systems (Windows 10), but also referring to previous versions and tablets or iPads.
You will need your own computer to practise what you learn in class.
You will learn:
- How to start and shut down the computer correctly
- How to use the mouse –
- How to use the Desktop and the keyboard
- How to find different programs
- How to use a CD, DVD or USB (memory stick)
- How to use a simple program (WordPad)
- How to use a printer
We also offer alternative ways to do things and short-cuts that other students have found useful.
This is a great way to start your SeniorNet experience and we welcome all new members.
No knowledge prerequisites needed
Course consists of four consecutive classes.
Cost: $5 per class, total of $20, paid at first attendance.
